Designed between 2018 and 2021 and released in 2022, Whale takes the utilitarian typewriter genre as its starting point but replaces the usual rigidity with thin, wide strokes that suggest graceful, unhurried movement. Built-in OpenType logic allows a parenthesis-hyphen prefix before a capital letter to generate double-wide swash capitals, while alternate characters with emphasised ball terminals and oversized quotation marks add further character. It covers Latin Extended including Vietnamese, and ships in a single style.
