A narrow humanist grotesque with twelve weights and matching italics, designed by Paul Harpin in memory of his niece as part of a cancer charity fundraising campaign.
About
Released in 2012, Laura comprises two sub-families – Plain and Display – each spanning twelve weights with matching italics. Its narrow proportions and large x-height are tempered by hand-drawn curves and circular punctuation, setting it apart from mechanically constructed narrow grotesques. The family covers extended Latin with accented characters, ligatures, fractions and a full range of punctuation.
Classification
Described explicitly as a narrow grotesque with humanist qualities, featuring hand-drawn curves and circular punctuation rather than mechanically constructed forms. The large x-height and narrow proportions align with humanist grotesque conventions.
