Wallraff specimen from Brutal Types

A single-weight modular stencil typeface by Ramiro Espinoza, adapted from the lettering of a 1930s German airline advertisement and refined into a functional digital design.

About

Wallraff draws on an anonymously designed piece of interwar German commercial lettering, with its geometric forms and stencil cuts reflecting the era's enthusiasm for technology and progress. Espinoza has refined the proportions and expanded the character set while preserving the directness of the source material. The modular structure suits large-format work such as posters, signage and exhibition graphics, as well as editorial and screen use.

Classification

Modular stencil typeface with geometric letterforms derived from 1930s German interwar lettering, combining utilitarian stencil cuts with a bold geometric structure typical of the period's machine-age aesthetic.
