A single-style display typeface by Ramiro Espinoza, derived from the geometric architectural lettering on the former Reisbureau der Staatsspoorwegen building in Amsterdam, completed in 1912.
About
Espinoza studied the proportional grid system underlying the Dam 8 façade inscription, which shows close affinities with Mathieu Lauweriks' Quadratuuralfabet, and translated its structural logic into a refined digital typeface. Rather than a literal reproduction, the design regularises the geometry and expands the character set while retaining the incised, architectural character of the original. The result is well suited to signage, posters, museum exhibitions and cultural branding that calls for a historically grounded geometric voice.
