Kring
Brutal Types · Ramiro Espinoza · 2026

A single-weight condensed display typeface by Ramiro Espinoza, reviving the geometric lettering of Pieter A. H. Hofman's 1920s Haagsche Kunstkring exhibition poster.
About
Espinoza studied the proportions, geometry and formal relationships of Hofman's original alphabet – characterised by light strokes, condensed forms and a highly reduced geometric vocabulary – and translated them into a contemporary digital typeface. The result carries clear echoes of early twentieth-century Dutch avant-garde design, making it well suited to fashion, beauty and cultural branding, as well as editorial and packaging contexts that require an understated, sophisticated presence.
Classification
A condensed display typeface with reduced geometric vocabulary and restrained Art Deco influences, drawn from early twentieth-century Dutch avant-garde lettering rather than any conventional text category.
