Kongres
Brutal Types · Ramiro Espinoza · 2025

A single-weight display typeface by Ramiro Espinoza, reviving the expressive hand-lettered forms from a 1922 Belgian avant-garde congress poster by artist Jozef Peeters.
About
The starting point was a student conference poster created by Jozef Peeters in Antwerp in 1922, whose hand-rendered letterforms carry the charged energy of early modernist experimentation. Espinoza has distilled those forms into a coherent digital typeface suited to posters, book covers, exhibitions and branding. It operates as both historical homage and independent design object.
Classification
Hand-lettering revival inspired by early modernist geometric poster lettering from 1922, adapted into a single-weight display typeface. Its expressive, angular forms place it firmly in the display category with a geometric, avant-garde character.
