Edisonplein specimen from Brutal Types

A single-style display typeface drawn from the early twentieth-century façade inscription of a Dutch school in Schiedam, balancing Art Nouveau ornament with modular geometric structure.

About

Paula Mastrangelo and Ramiro Espinoza studied the proportions and stroke modulation of the original Edisonplein school lettering, then refined its geometry and expanded the character set for contemporary use. The result retains the interplay between decorative detail and structural discipline found in the historic source. It suits labels, posters, packaging and cultural projects that call for a typographic voice with a distinct early-modern character.

Classification

A display typeface derived from early twentieth-century Dutch façade lettering, combining Art Nouveau decorative inflections with modular, geometric construction. Its single style and ornamental character place it firmly in the display category.
