A five-weight display family by Fie Clarke whose weight names and letterforms were conceived as visual analogues for eating disorders and body image.
About
Released in September 2020, Anti draws a direct conceptual line between typographic weight and human body weight, extending into two non-conventional styles — Dysmorphia and Recovery — that reflect the psychological dimension of eating disorders. The family covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts across 517 glyphs. It was selected for inclusion in the Yearbook of Type 2021/22.
Classification
A conceptual display typeface with five distinctive weights, two of which — Dysmorphia and Recovery — represent psychological states rather than conventional typographic weight increments. The letterforms derive from a conceptual framework linking font weights to body image and eating disorders.
