Before Paris specimen from Azuliq Type

A two-weight display typeface by Markus Abts, conceived as a typographic homage to Louis Malle's 1958 film 'Elevator to the Gallows' and the Nouvelle Vague movement.

About

Letterforms deliberately blend soft and sharp structures, with cuts and twists embedded in the glyphs as hidden references to the film's title and its hybrid thriller-romance atmosphere. The family ships with 348 glyphs, a broad set of ligatures, stylistic alternates and coverage of 32 languages. Two weights — Regular and Semibold — are provided, aimed at headline and editorial use.

Classification

A decorative display typeface with hybrid formal qualities — soft and sharp structures collide within letterforms, referencing both classical and cinematic visual languages. Its stylised uppercase and lowercase with ligature-rich OpenType features place it firmly in the display category.
