The standard American Roman stencil, drawn from a one inch Reese's Eureka kit.
About
Samuel W. Reese patented interlocking stencil kits in 1876 and his Eureka sets made the design ordinary across American shipping. Competitors such as Carragan, Dunlap, Fletcher, Monce, Stafford and Wards used the same Clarendon-derived letters, differing only on R, Q, 5, $, cent and &. A Tuscan style comes with it, and US No.1 covers the same design with a lowercase.
Classification
The Clarendon-based US Roman, drawn from a 1 inch Reese's Eureka interlocking kit. Bold slab shapes broken by stencil bridges, so display rather than a text slab.
