A Hebrew-led display typeface inspired by a Tel Aviv goldsmith's engraved shop sign, rebuilt across three versions with a Latin companion added in 2023.
About
Noyland began as a response to an old hand-engraved metal sign on Allenby Street in Tel Aviv, with its letterforms derived from the constraints of a milling drill cutting into iron. The diagonal angles integrate with horizontal and vertical strokes to produce airy counters balanced by rounded corners, giving the face an unlikely mix of industrial toughness and approachable warmth. Version 3.0 added a Latin script designed by Anna Horosh and a Medium weight, alongside Hebrew, Greek and an extensive range of Latin-based languages.
Classification
A display typeface with a geometric grid structure, diagonal angles integrated with horizontal and vertical strokes, rounded corners and a stencil variant. Its industrial origins and distinctive counter treatment place it firmly in the display category.
