A multilingual display serif rooted in the visual language of early Israeli statehood posters, spanning five weights from a monoline ultralight to a high-contrast black.
About
Designed by Avraham Cornfeld and released in 2020, Kedem Serif takes its cues from Hebrew propaganda posters of Israel's founding era, translating their wide letterforms, unconventional angles and distinctive internal spaces into a contemporary typeface. Contrast between serif and stem accumulates as the weight increases, making each cut feel like a distinct graphic register. The family supports Hebrew with full nikud, alongside Latin and Cyrillic scripts covering over 229 languages.
Classification
A display serif with wide letterforms, unusual angles and distinctive negative spaces, drawing on the aesthetic of mid-twentieth century Hebrew propaganda posters. Contrast between serif and stem increases progressively across the weight range, from a monoline ultralight to a high-contrast black.
