serifmid-century Grafia Latina revival
Anomique specimen from Abstract Office

A revival of Enric Crous-Vidal's 1960s Ile-de-France, bringing back a mid-century Mediterranean serif built on calligraphic instinct rather than geometry.

About

Anomique revives Ile-de-France, a typeface Crous-Vidal drew in the early 1960s after fleeing Franco's Spain for Paris, where he railed against modernist coldness in favour of what he called la Grafia Latina, the hand and heart before the compass. Expanded for wider Latin support across three weights, Anomique keeps the original's reclining O alternates and its wide-set commas and quotes.

Classification

A revival of Crous-Vidal's 1960s Ile-de-France, a serif built on calligraphic, hand-drawn logic rather than geometric construction, placing it in serif despite its unconventional mid-century proportions.
